First Time Mommy Must-Have’s by @alexisjadekaiser

Hi! My name is Alexis Kaiser, I’m a lifestyle blogger at and @alexisjadekaiser on Instagram! I became a first time mommy on July 9th of this year to my sweet little girl Billie Stone Kaiser. She’s brought so much love and light to our lives and I’m stoked to share with you what my first time mommy must-have’s are (post baby)! Hopefully this can help out some of you future mommy’s to be or new mommy’s!

1 – First and foremost, a MamaRoo. It costs a pretty penny for a reason! I honestly don’t know what we’d do without ours. It was soo helpful when Billie first came home and she still loves it. Sometimes you just need a break (and that’s OK) and a MamaRoo is the closest thing (in my opinion) to being cuddled and swayed in mama’s arms. And I love that you can sit it up pretty high. Our little Bill had pretty bad reflux when she was little and hated lying down after eating so the adjustable seat made a big difference.

2 – Baby sling! I’ve been baby wearing Billie since the day she came home from the hospital. And trust me it’s hard to get use to and definitely takes some practice but I LOVE baby wearing and now that we’ve figured it out, so does Billie. It keeps her close and calm and gives me two hands to do what I wish! I have really loved slings, they’re super high quality, have rich amazing colors and don’t stretch when you’re wearing them too much.

3 – Dock-A-Tot. We’ve loved our Dock-A-Tot. We used it sooo much when Billie first came home and we wanted her to have a safe place to co-sleep with us. We love it for naps too, and it makes vacationing and traveling a whole lot easier when you take it because she’s used to it! We just brought ours on our last trip and it came in so handy! Plus it’s carry on size so it’s a win win!

4 – Parasol Diapers. We absolutely love Parasol diapers. They are a subscription service diaper company. They’re super breathable, have a great fit, and latex free. Their wipes are amazing too. Billie is so sensitive to wipes and gets irritated very easily, she’s never had a reaction to their wipes. And I love that they are double lined walls, we’ve never had a poop blow out after switching to parasol! We were using huggies before and that happened all too often. Ugh!

5 – Spotify. Sounds silly but Spotify has so many baby friendly playlists. We currently listen to Rainforest Music: Nature’s Lullabies for naps and as soon as I start playing it Billie immediately gets tired and knows it’s nap time. They also have some really good white noise playlists if you want to go that route!

6 – For breastfeeding mamas… Frankincense, Lavender and Sunflower Lecithin. Literally this combo is the BEST ever for helping reduce and heal clogged ducts. I got mastitis the day my milk came in, and I really didn’t want to take an antibiotic because I’m so sensitive to them, so I used this combo (plus a whole bunch of other craziness) and cured my mastitis in 4 days! I did a ton of research to see what I could do to help prevent clogged ducts all the time and so many women recommended Sunflower Lecithin. I just ordered mine off Amazon and take it daily to help prevent any clogs. Ever since I’ve been doing that, if I do get a clog, I rub it out by applying Frankincense and Lavender and it always comes out within 24 hours. And a clogged duct was what caused my mastitis the first time, so I never want to have one sit long enough to get that again, WORST THING EVER.

7- Nursing Pillow. Although I don’t use this much now that I’ve got the hang of nursing… It was a huge help at first when I had no idea what the heck I was doing! I also had like zero strength after having Billie so the arm support was sooo nice. I got mine from target and it was the Ergo Baby natural curve nursing pillow and I really liked it because it was a firm memory foam as opposed to a floppy pillow. It provided a ton of support and helped get the job done!

8 – A diaper bag you love. I think it’s important to love your diaper bag and have it be practical at the same time. It becomes your new purse and you have to fill it full everytime you go out so I think it’s super important to love it! I’ve been using the Fawn Design bag and really love it. It’s cute, minimal and practical and has tons of storage and I love that it can be a crossbody or backpack. It’s also vegan leather so it cleans up really nicely.

9 – Carseat cover. If you’re anything like me, and a germaphobe you want your baby covered at all times when she’s teeney tiny to help prevent as many germs as possible. Of course using it safely and in the appropriate conditions 🙂 I really love the Little Unicorn Official cotton muslin car seat canopy’s because they’re super breathable, easy to put on and have magnets on the front (genius) so you can peep on your baby easily and whenever and don’t have to worry about putting the entire thing on and off. I also love the Milk Snob duo carseat covers. I use mine mostly for breastfeeding and I love how soft and stretchy it is. It covers good but is breathable for those hot summer months.

10 – Swaddles, swaddles, swaddles. My mom thought I was crazy for buying as many swaddles as I did but I’m so glad I did! They’re so nice to use at all times and all places. I always keep and extra one in my diaper bag and I always have one in the carseat with Billie as well. They can be used as spit up cloths too on the fly, a nursing cover, or to comfort you baby. So many options.

Anyways, I literally could bore you for an entire year about all the things I’ve loved having as a mama, but I’ll leave it at that! I know there are so many other amazing products out there but this is what my little family has loved! If you want to connect with me, check out my Instagram @alexisjadekaiser to follow along this crazy new journey of mine. Good luck to any future mama’s and to all other mama’s YOU’RE DOING AMAZING, keep it up. So much respect for mama’s now that I have my own little. They’re so much work but SOOO amazing. The love you feel is truly indescribable. Love & light! xx

5 Tips for Getting Better Pictures of Your Littles with Mindy from @hopefeathers

Here are some amazing photo tips from our one and only Mindy with @hopefeathers! Sometimes we got to call in the professionals for some great tips and tricks. Love learning from the best! Enjoy!~

I LOVE Instagram. It’s a small micro blog that holds all my memories beautifully in chronological order. But I wouldn’t call myself a “blogger”. I started a blog the day I found out I was pregnant with my oldest daughter Vivienne. That was over 6 years ago! I began my blog as a way to connect with family that lived a bit too far away and as a place to document memories. Fast forward six years and three daughters, and my blog is still that. I am not the most faithful blogger. I certainly don’t have all the answers. And most of the time I am winging it with a latte in hand and a toddler or two on my lap. But I think that all moms agree that the more kids you have, the harder it is to “nail the shot” of them all. That being said, I have a couple tips for accomplishing this feat. So here is a bit of my wisdom and a few tips for better photography:

1. Don’t worry about smiles. If you line them all up and expect gorgeous smiles from them all, you will quickly turn into a fire breathing dragon mama whispering empty threats to force compliance. Trust me. I’ve been there! So instead, let them be candid! If that means shooting a photo from behind so you don’t see their cranky faces, SO BE IT!

2. Give them a prop or activity. My girls will gladly let me take photos of them when they are crafting, playing, and creating chaos. And some props just make the photo even cuter! Like playing at a playground, coloring, or enjoying an ice cream cone or lollipop. Which, of course leads me to my next tip:

3. I am all about bribes. We have a jar of chocolate chips in our kitchen specifically used for photoshoots. And for Mommy. Enough said.

4. Prepare to be a dork. Like for real. The bigger a dork I become, the bigger the smiles the girls give. I tell a TON of potty jokes, make strange noises and chase them for tickle fights. And it works! For now. I’m sure this strategy may need to be altered as the girls become Tweens! Yikes!

5. My last tip is to stay calm. Kiddos can smell stress. I swear the girls can tell when I have a “high pressure” photo shoot required for a client or brand or whatever because they loose their minds and I do to. We all just need to calm down! Worst case scenario, it’s not perfect. And is that really all that bad? None of us are perfect… so our photos shouldn’t be either!

I hope that these tips are helpful! But the biggest tip I have is to PRACTICE! I take photos almost every day. I bring my camera everywhere, even if it’s just my phone. And most of all, HAVE FUN! We have a fun job as mamas to photograph memories that will be cherished for years!

What it means to be a mom with Madi Beasley

We would like to introduce you all to the beautiful Madi Beasley, who is a beauty inside and out. She started motherhood at a young age and agreed to be a guest blogger for us to tell you all about it.

Enjoy the read below!

When I started my journey as being a mom I was 17 years old. Although that was very shocking and a little nerve wracking, I had family and (now) my husband with me every step of the way. Fast forward 4 years and we now have another special baby, making us a family of 4. Our Mia and Bowie have no idea how much happiness they have brought into our lives.

I cannot come up with words that describe how instantly rewarding it felt to become a mom. Labor kind of puts it all into perspective. Being a mom is and will always be a lot of hard work but the end result makes it so worth it. Even after a day full of exhausting demands and requests, I look at my sleeping babes and know that it’s all worth it. Sometimes I feel like I am rocking this “mom thing” and others I find myself spending endless amounts of time on Pinterest, becoming a big mess about why every inch of my house isn’t organized or why I don’t know how to make fake snow. I know I’m not alone in this and I think that’s what makes us good moms. One of my favorite parts about being a mom is looking into your babies eyes and seeing just how much they love you. They still think the world of you even if you just fed them a pb&j for the third day in a row, it’s magical.

Being a mom is my greatest challenge and biggest blessing.

Nora’s Nursery Reveal

I am so so excited to share Nora’s nursery with you today! She is going to be here in just a few days and I keep dreaming of the days to come in this sweet space.

When I found out I was having a girl the first thing I started on was the nursery. I was so excited to be able to do a room totally dedicated to my little girl (it was kind a dream come true for me). I knew I wanted something light and airy but fun. I had a few vintage pieces that I have been hanging on to that I knew had to be incorporated into the design, but I definitely wanted a touch of modern as well.

The first thing I got was the crib sheet by Little Unicorn . I pulled the blush, gray and pops of color from the sheet and used it for the color pallet of the room. Sydni showed me the gorgeous print from Christie Adelle and I fell in love! The amazing artwork became the focal point of the room and I love how it added a modern touch and tied everything together. The crib was actually mine when I was a baby so it has some special meaning. The vintage dresser was my great grandmothers so it has some EXTRA special meaning, and that darling rocking horse was made by my amazing father.  I love that I could incorporate these meaningful pieces into her room and I feel like they fit so well. The big fluffy pink rug was a find at Tuesday Morning. One touch of that rug and I knew I had to have it! It is crazy soft and cozy I love sitting in the chair and just rubbing my feet on the rug which has become my favorite part of the room.

For the changing table I am using a beautiful dresser that belonged to my great grandmother. I love the warmth of the wood and tried to accent it throughout the room. The changing pad fits perfectly on it and I hung a beautiful mobile from pottery barn over the top (sorry guys it is currently out of stock). I am super excited about the diaper caddy by Ubbi. I love that I can have all I need for changing in one portable spot. I also can’t wait to try out the Ubbi diaper pail it is supposed to block out odors and my favorite part is I can use regular garbage bags and I don’t have to spend a fortune on special bags.

I accessorized the book shelves with a mixture of vintage and modern items to bring the space together. I framed a bib and a bonnet that my great grandmother made  and added some modern art pieces that I found on Etsy along with some toys and books. I love this little spot in her room and I am sure my boys will love hanging out with her there.

I can’t wait to watch my little girl grow in this space and be a happy place for memories to be made.

You can find some of the items in the room here. There are a few items that are no longer available,  but If I am missing something, don’t hesitate to ask!

Lulu and Roo Fall 2017 Launch

Hey guys! We are so excited to have launched our fall collection over at Lulu and Roo. We have been working hard the past few months making this line just right. Along with the new fall collection we have been rebranding too so things have been a little crazy over here to say the least. We finally get to share it all with you and we are so so excited! We incorporated a richer color pallet this fall and the best part is all the pieces are easy to mix and match so you can get more outfit combos with your new Lulu and Roo favorites.

We introduced new hoodies and sweats featuring the stone stripe pocket and hood in 4 new colors, slate blue, mauve, mustard and sky blue. It is such a beautiful color pallet and the sweatpants can be coordinated with some of our other new items witch is extra awesome.

We have gotten a lot of requests for a hoodless option so we have added the ruffle and the patch sleeve sweatshirt to the line up and they have been a huge hit!  The patches and ruffle make these pieces so dang cute and we all know its all in the details!

Our cross back dresses were such a hit this summer that we wanted to continue them into the fall by adding some new colors. It has been fun seeing all the ways this cute little dress can be styled for cooler weather. We love pairing it over a peter pan collar shirt or with a cute cardigan. We even threw one of our new ruffle shirts over the top and it is so darling! There are so many ways to make this dress the perfect fall piece.

Another awesome fall piece is the new long sleeve button shirt. This shirt is very gender neutral and all three colors go with the whole line. It is one more item that you can add to your collection to mix and match.

We hope that you guys love this line as much as we do. We are so grateful for all of our customers and we love taking your feedback and creating products that you and your kids will love.

Go check out our whole line over at and let us know which pieces are your favorite!

July Children’s Reading Picks

Back to school is just around the corner and with My oldest is going into 2nd grade this year I want to make sure he doesn’t lose all the progress he has made so far with his reading. Fortunately he loves reading to his little brother but he was starting to read the same books over and over and just memorizing them so it was time to introduce some new books to our collection. I have heard a lot of good things about the following books and when I read through them I just fell in love with how cute the stories and illustrations are. These are the perfect books for my son to practice reading to his little brother.  I can’t wait for them to dig in and read read read read.

Pottery Barn Event

We love pottery barn kids so much and we were so excited to partner up with them a few weeks ago! We were inspired by the Emily & Meritt collection at pottery barn kids and thought tying in our cross back dresses would be a fantastic idea! The plush dolls and even some of the costumes behind the girls are from their new collection. It really helped create a fun, cute, photoshoot that we continue to adore so much.

We also got to throw a fun little pop up shop at pottery barn kids in Trolley Square, Utah. We had a blast getting to meet some of our wonderful customers as well as the crew members at pottery barn kids. This day wasn’t just about shopping, we wanted to bring the pottery barn atmosphere to life and get everyone involved. Though out the store we had refreshments of chocolate chip cookie bites and lemon water, fourth of July wand craft at the craft table for the kids and a gift card scavenger hunt for our customers. It was a lot of fun being part of this experience with pottery barn kids and we hope that everyone enjoyed it as much as we did!

Happy weekend everyone! We’ve included a video of our pop up shop below!

Chia Pudding Pops

Yay, I am so excited for the 4th of July tomorrow! This time of year is my absolute favorite, I am a summer girl through and through. I look forward to the fourth of July festivities every year! Today I’m sharing one of my very favorite summer popsicle recipes. These are so refreshing and a healthier alternative on those hot summer days! We made these a few days ago and the kids just LOVED them, they are light and refreshing. This is a recipe your kids can join in on if they are like mine and love helping out in the kitchen.

Items needed:

  • 1 can of coconut milk
  • 1/4 cup chia seeds
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 Tbsp honey
  • Fresh fruit/shredded coconut (we used mango, limes, strawberries, bananas, blueberries and pineapple
  • Popsicle molds (this recipe made approximately 8 popsicles of the size we used of our molds)
  • Popsicle sticks

Whisk the entire can of  coconut milk into a small bowl. Stir in the chia seeds and let sit, stir a few times. Let sit for 3o minutes to allow time to expand and then drop a small amount of coconut/ chia seed mixture in the bottom of each mold. Drop some chopped up fruit to layer. keep adding more coconut mixture and then more fruit until the molds are almost completely filled up.  Start wrapping the mold firmly against the counter so that the pudding fills up completely around the fruit.

Insert the popsicle sticks into the molds, they will easily stand up by themselves and do not need additional support. Top off the molds so the sticks are completely surrounded. Freeze for 2-3 hours until completely frozen. Remove the popsicles from the molds easily by filling a sink with hot water deep enough to immerse the mold up to and hold the mold in the hot water for about 15 seconds to loosen up the pops.
Pull the popsicles out of the mold and enjoy!

Happy 4th of July!
